Curved Wireless Keyboard

It holds five devices at once, and the switch on the back is the first thing to get right. Three of those five connect straight to the keyboard, one uses the little USB receiver in the box, and one is the cable. They are not the same thing, which is the part the printing on the keyboard cannot tell you.

The switch has three positions, not five

On the rear edge, beside the USB-C port. BT/2.4G is wireless on, OFF is off, CABLE is wired.

Here is the part that catches people out: BT/2.4G is a single position covering two different kinds of wireless. Sliding the switch does not pick which device you are on - it only turns the radio on. You choose the device with the Fn key, and that is the whole trick to this keyboard.

Three devices, connected directly

Hold Fn and press 1, 2 or 3 for five seconds. The light blinks, and the keyboard appears on your phone, tablet or computer as "Keyscaper KKB605" - or, on some units, the factory name "MX Elite". Whichever name appears while the light is blinking is this keyboard. Do it again on 2 and 3 for two more devices.

After that, a quick Fn + 1, 2 or 3 hops between them - no re-pairing, no menus.

The fourth device uses the USB receiver

The small receiver in the box is the fourth slot, and it is the one to use on a computer that will not connect directly - a work machine with wireless locked down, or an older desktop. Slide to BT/2.4G, hold Fn + 2.4G for about three seconds, then plug the receiver in. It sorts itself out from there.

And the fifth is just the cable

Slide to CABLE, plug in the included USB-C cable, and it works immediately. Useful when a battery is flat, and useful in a meeting room where you would rather not gamble on a radio.

If the punctuation comes out wrong, this is why

The keyboard has to know which system it is talking to, or the quote marks and the @ symbol swap places and a few keys do nothing at all. Hold Fn and press:

Q for Android · W for Windows · E for iOS or Mac.

Set it once per device you pair. This one line answers most of the "some keys are wrong" questions people write to us about.

When nothing else works

Fn + ESC clears every stored connection and starts the keyboard over. You will need to pair your devices again, so it is the last thing to try rather than the first - but when a channel has got itself into a strange state, it is the thing that fixes it.

Lost the USB receiver?

It is the most common thing we hear about on any wireless keyboard, by a wide margin, and it is usually still plugged into a computer you stopped using. Check there first, and check the bag the keyboard travelled in.

If it really is gone, write to us. We keep spares for this keyboard, and we have the pairing procedure for a replacement - so this is a short conversation rather than a dead end. A receiver from an office supply store will not work; they are paired to their own keyboards.

Charging

Plug the included USB-C cable into the port on the rear edge. It charges at 5 V and draws up to 1 A, so a phone charger or a USB port on your computer is exactly right - it has no use for a big laptop charger. A green light shows while it is charging, and a red light is your warning that the battery is getting low.

You can keep typing on the cable while it charges.

A few honest notes

The keyboard remembers all five, but it talks to one at a time - Fn and a number is how you move between them.

It has a rechargeable battery and magnets inside. Keep it dry, do not take it apart, and if the battery ever looks swollen or the keyboard smells odd, stop using it and tell us.
