Hidden-Screw Light Switch Plate
It comes in four styles, and it comes apart into two pieces. The back plate screws to the wall and the front cover snaps over it, which is what keeps the screws off the front where they would sit across the logo.

- Which style fits your switch
- Look at the switch on your wall and count the switches in the plate. A toggle is the narrow lever you flick up and down. A rocker is the wide flat paddle you press - it is sometimes called a decorator switch. That gives you four combinations: single or double, toggle or rocker. They are not interchangeable, so if the opening does not match your switch, stop and write to us rather than forcing it.
- Turn the power off first
- Always turn power OFF at the circuit breaker before installation.
- Both pieces have an arrow, and both point up
- There is a large arrow molded around the switch opening on each piece, and the word TOP as well. Fit both with the arrow pointing up. This is the easiest thing to get wrong and the easiest to fix, and it is not written on the sheet in the box.
- Fitting it
- Three steps, and a small screwdriver is all you need. One: separate the two pieces - find the small tab centered on the bottom edge, slide the screwdriver into it and lift gently. Two: screw the back plate to the switch box, arrow and TOP pointing up, using the screws in the box. Three: snap the front cover on, arrow up, starting at the top edge and pressing down until the bottom tab clicks into its notch.
- Taking it off, and cleaning it
- Removal is step one in reverse: the same tab on the bottom edge, the same small screwdriver. It is meant to come off, so lifting the cover away is the easy way to clean it, or to paint the wall without touching the screws. Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth and keep abrasives and solvents off the printed face - no scouring pads, no cleaning sprays, no alcohol wipes. The design is printed on the surface, so anything that would scuff paint will scuff this.

If the plate will not sit flush, check the arrow on the back plate is pointing up before anything else - an upside-down back plate puts the clips in the wrong place, and it looks exactly like a plate that does not fit.
